Pierre Le Roy, 1600-1675 was a schoolmaster of St Martin's Parish in Guernsey. This is edited from the original french manuscript, with parallel English translation, introduction and notes by G.E. Lee, MA, FSA. The second publication which concerns his youngest son is an offprint from the 1951 Transactions.

The Secret History of Guernsey Marmalade

In 1857, James Keiller & Son of Dundee, the celebrated pioneers of marmalade manufacture, set up a branch in Guernsey. Its purpose was to evade costly sugar duties, and in time it evolved into a base for the firm's nascent export trade. After 1874, when Britain permitted the free importing of sugar, the establishment lost much of its rationale, and it was closed down in 1879.
